Wired vs wireless: when should a device be plugged in?

Anything stationary and important — a server, a till or EPOS system, a desktop that handles large files, a VoIP desk phone — benefits from a wired connection for reliability and speed, leaving WiFi capacity free for laptops, phones and genuinely mobile devices.

Coach's tip: even one poorly-placed wired run can dramatically cut WiFi congestion in a busy office — it's often cheaper than buying more access points.
